did take me awhile to get it perfect.

but very satisfying!!!

Boot handle

I quite like it. Don't think it would suit a D9 though.

i used the orginal locking solniod, just moved it to a position that would open the boot by a push to make switch. i took a live feed from the cigarette lighter to the switch with a in line fuse between them, then ran the wire under the carpet and rear bench seat to the boot via the black plastic casing with the rest of the boot electrics, and earthed the solnoid in the boot itself.

one thing i will say is that the spring on the catch needs to be shortened to make it slightly strong so it has the strength to pull the solnoid back.

there isnt much point buying a solniod kit as you can use the central locking one purely because your not gonna use the boot lock anymore.

i understand its not everyones taste and im not too sure what it will look like on a d9.

ill be honest it does look abit empty and bland but i think thats just where its not sprayed yet.

it wasnt easy and i did spend alot of time and effort on the boot so it looks good instead of a half hearted job.

well done anyhow good tidy job but what id love to see on a 406 is a boot release button like the 407 has in the O you dont really see it but its there, but it is a bit empty looking on the old boot with no middle feature its your taste but it is something i found odd when the car companies started to do it themselves. The renault clio had a campus model with the strange boot, and end of the line rover 45s are two examples of this.



The 406 boot doesnt look to bad without its decor but the clio looks terrible after the facelifts in terms of its boot

p.s. The clio is a terrible car, just had to add that. Yeah it looks decent enough but its absolute crap, nowhere as good to drive as a panda.

They lift off in the corners like a bastard! Bloody dangerous actually! Terrible handling car!

The original Clio was a great little car for its time. They've only gotten bigger and heavier ever since.

I'm still convinced the mk.1 Clio was essentially bullet-proof - when the Wifely Person bought me mine as a surprise, it had practically no oil in the sump (and what there was was kinda like treacle), no water in the expansion bottle, a cracked bearing in the gearbox, and brakes that were basically shot to hell. It was still on the original factory-fitted oil and air filter, and had done 109,000 miles. The thing still went like the clappers (perky 1.4 petrol engine), and felt like a really good sporty little car.

Seemed happier after an oil change, and after it had its coolant topped up, and had its filters and spark plugs changed. The knackered gearbox and the shot brakes meant that she failed her second MOT while she was in my care, and I had to sell her off for scrap as there just wasn't enough value in her to make it worth fixing up. Shame.

I had drove a mk1 clio and yip it felt a better car, the mk2 i had was rubbish the steering had absolutley no feedback and this was a big miss after i had the fiat which had very good feedback in the steering, the panda also had a slick gearchange up on the dash the clio had a rubbery clunky thing which didnt stay in the same place it moved around. And then there was the rattles, and it stranding me so fecking often, the terrible brakes, the rubbish trip computer, the lack of air con and in the winter it was a deathtrap it put me over a hedge one day and never stopped. The panda is a bit more square looking but a much better car its a real drivers car when it wants to be

Quite like it, reminds me a bit of the bootlid on facelifted 405s



It does look a bit like those cars they have in car insurance adverts, where they fill the badges over to prevent advertising the car marque!

My mk1 Clio kept going despite surviving new-to-motoring me overfilling the coolant and oil and raking the 4 speed 1.2 at 80mph, then eventually getting written off after a rear ended from a BMW. Still went well though, wouldn't die. Unfortunately had to scrap it as it wasn't worth MOTing
