Can you not get a screwdriver in the now gaping hole and pop the lock that way round? If not, it's only held on at the bottom by 2 plastic sliding pins, so just pop them out and then it's just a case of getting the top undone.

Pins are easy to get to. You can get to them with the glovebox closed. Just pop them out with a large flat bladed screwdriver. Not sure how you'll manage to get the top undone and off though. I think the glovebox may still be stuck in place even with the bottom pins removed.

i recall i overfilled the glovebox, i think a tissue jammed it, and i had to get the docs out as the police were doing checks, and so not up for getting into bother i was going to open the glovebox no matter what, so when i did it i pulled and yanked the handle and nothing, then i pulled it harder and it come off the police woman laughed at this, and i popped the handle back on, and then i put the key into the glove box, i had at some point locked it.
