My car has the cheap looking,in my oppinion anyway,walnut type trim around the doors/glove box etc.
Apart from the black trim of late models does any companies make anything different ???
A mate has a top spec XM and the light wood looks very nice against the dark leather.......out similar available ??

All Peugeot provide is the walnut (L, LX, GLX, Executive), black ash (Rapier, SE,), grey (S) & if you can find it, a bluey wood effect (SRi).

If you're up for a bit of DIY, it's all easy enough to remove & you could either spray it or get some sticky film from Halfords & re-cover them.

£20 will get you glovebox in black and fagtray all in ashwood effect , bargain that , small price to pay to get rid of the walnut shite

i would whip the black glovebox up if i was you as they dont often come along in black
notice there all light grey

I recall an episode of wheeler dealers, ed was working on an old jag, the wood trim was peeling and he got some tasty wood effect covering which he just stuck on over it, and it looked very good, a light wood. But furniture makers should stock this stuff, most of flat pack furniture has nice textrues stuck on top of cheap chipwood, or plywood. With a bit of sanding at the plastic, and perhaps a strong adhesive you could get it on.
Alternativley, pull out the wooden bits and spray them a colour of your choice, metalic silver being the most popular choice here.

The are not real wood, yup no wood there at all, not even an element of wood there, just 100% plastic.

How i know is ive cut one of them wooden bits in half to find there is no wood there, just a very well made plastic veneer, which looks very realistic i must say. So if you were to get one of these new wooden veneers it would need to be glued onto the plastic bit, and it may not be as durable as the woody bits at the moment.

Nope - the drivers side dash is held with a spring clip. Just give it a pull & it comes off. Glovebox is screwed on & the door trims have little studs that press into the plastic & a little grippy ring on the other side.

I like the wood in mine.Infact if I could find a wooden ashtray in nice nick for it I reckon Id wet myself with happiness.

Gary had 1 going spare last week & i've got 1 on Ebay at the mo.

What bloody plastic !!!! lol.......... i knew that mate,just a loose term i used......also the reason i'd like something better......as you know the XM i mean it looks 100% better does'nt it.
A chance missed by Pug there to make a decent job.

Also farmer your right about the wood veneer not being as durable........i had a Jaguar XJ6 back in the 70's and although it was only 6 years old it was showing signs of trouble on the walnut-real in those cars lol-i think our climates effect in cars of damp/cold and boiling hot is too extreme.......but where on earth is suitable

the xms not a bad looking car, but its not as good looking as the 406.

Agreed there.......but i borrowed it for a spell and the seats are much more comfortable they have a longer base than the 406 and are more firm,it must be the only citroen with firm seats though,all ive tried are mushy.......nice touch is the electric adjustable arm rest too,its as big as a seat !no heaters though on his model,i believe they came in pretty late on.
Bets its the coldest youve had for a long while in Northern Ireland so like mine the seat heaters will have seen some use
