dash lights etc. out with the Red!

Post by lozz »

as anyone changed the colour of there dash lights/ mfd radio etc, :|
im getting fed up with the Red and im thinking of having a go at getting them to light up blue,
is it just a case of changing the bulbs or is it down to a couloured plastic creating the red?

on my D8 clock i soldered a red LED instead of a bulb and it didnt light it up correctly

i think your right saying its a red screen that makes it red , usually all the bulbs are white so i think adding blue bulbs probably wont make it blue mate

will make it dim and not light properly 8)

cheers
iwill have to strip down the clocks and see what makes them light up red,
if its just plastic or whatever itscalled that omits the colour iwill just sand it off and add blue bulbs :|
ive also got Some special blue paint desighned for bulbs so that might just do the job on the plastic

When I replaced the bulbs on my radio display the bulbs were white, so it must be the display.

The red/orange colour comes from a layer of colour added to the dial face. All the dials are printed onto one sheet of plastic that has a colours backing.
You could, in theory sand down the coloured layer and then replace the bulbs. I'd recommend getting a set of dials from a scrapyard to test on.

i looked at the d9 mfd because its one of the bigger obstacles, the back of the lcd screen has an orange foil, peel it away and replae it with blue foil and the display is blue.

Bit late and its an old post but just thought I'd add my bit in case anyone is searching through.

When the bulbs went in my mfd I replaced them with white leds, however they didn't look right and you could see three circles of light through the front of the display. I then changed them for white bulbs and it didn't look red enough. In the end I put red bulbs in and it looked all good again.

So in short, I think you need red bulbs in the mfd and don't both with leds because the light doesn't spread out properly!

Whoever it is that handles your email account may have decided it was junk mail and intercepted it. I just turned all that off on mine 'cos it was blocking emails from a mate of mine. You should see the size of my John Thomas now!
