Ive just changed the colour of my Mfd.
Heres how too for anyone else wanting to do this,
1 remove the 2 torques screws from the mfd theres one at either side,
2 unclip the back of the mfd and the other part,
once all is uncliped you will see behind the "Glass display" an orange square strip pull it off,
either replace with a Blue peice of plastic or any other colour you chose or simply just paint the rear of it with Halfords bulb paint,
Becare full pulling the strip off the display it is Glass and Easily broken.
iwill be doing the radio screen next then the climate control display

the radio ones are easy its just small plastic caps over the bulbs coloured in orange, a bit of blue bulb paint there, the climate control button backlights are the same, as for the bulbs in the buttons its best to stick with orange.
The speedometer i dont know what blue bulbs would look like on white dials.
The electric window swithces are again bulbs, they need some bulb paint.
Ive never done it ive just accepted the orange colour, but if you can put up pics to show how the new colour looks.

cheers mate much apreciated,
the only thing that is buggin me at the Moment is the speedo ones, but im sure theyl be doable im just hoping there not them Daft solderd in Dwarfy little smd things tho,
Every bulb in the car will end up blue im even adding more lights eg handles in the doorcards and otherplace etc
Ihate the orange its just an overkill on a red car,
if the car was white or blue iwouid of left them as they were,

i dont know now, its just an lcd mounted in there, just watch you dont break the ribbon, could either be a bit of orange foil, or backlight. Same as the climate control.

the bit with the lens and black surround is basically one unit which slides over the part holding the needles, gague and the electronics. Theres tabs on the black surround pry at these to release the main bit, just go round the speedo in one direction prying a small bit at a time this way nothing gets broken. When it comes out if you want to remove the dials the way i found that works is to use two teaspoons, and put them either side of the needle and pry them upwards, have a bit tissue under the spoons to protect the dials. With the needles out the gague bit just comes off, thats it open.
Putting back the needles be careful they point precisely at the bottom of the gagues, push them on fully, the black surround just clips back on.
Although on pre multiplex speedo clusters i assume bulbs at the back do the lighting.
