Now i have a chance to get one on the breaking car, i want to get the box of cogs that does the air recirc job to see whats inside and if i can get an friend who owns a lathe and other such precision instruments to see if we can make a decent replacement.
Anyhow where is this box, i have the centre console out, glove box out fan out. Just a bit confused about what to look for.
Its on a year 2000 car.

inoticed some sort of Electrical gizmo on the side of the heater box /blower box on mines
alittle thing with cogs little box thing with wires on > dont know if its the recirc thing or not but its aworth a nosey at it,
if your breaking the car rip the lot out the heater matrix is worth pulling out and saving whilst its all out,
just a thought mate

when the glovebox is removed you will see it sat at the top of the big fan unit at the top.

no cogs on the floor dont worry
then ill need to ask my cousin can he make them out of brass, or is there websites that make cogs?
This breaking a car things a great job, apart from getting the parts, i think its good to learn how a 406 is built, ive taken off the wings, and front bumper for example, id have been too scared to do it on my good car, but now im fairly confident i could change a wing. The stupidest thing i can see that peugeot has done in the construction of the 406 was them sealing sheets. Other than that its quite a fine car to work on.

Over on the toupé club they're replacing the cogs with ones from toy car clockwork motors

toy cars with good honest cogs, perhaps old dinky cars from the 60's but i doubt any of the rubbish they make these days would have metal cogs in them. I suppose eventually taking different old things apart alarm clocks, old mechano sets, or an old tape player.
I also got a similar part i believe it changes the direction of air flow, its a bit closer to the middle, and says valeo

oh i got one of those things in my renault master van but all the gears were stripped of teeeth like yours

so i took it out and left it out (its only a van) may be worth a trip to a scrappy to see if its the same as a renault or similar though to save you from getting gears made up
