My D8 hasint got the wood trim on the doors and ive got a set of door cards in the shed from a D9 with the wood trim on
Would it be possible to fit the wood trim to my D8 door cards? Ive noticed the trim is held on with those circular metal fasteners that can be prised off with a screwdriver
Cheers for any info

Not really. When the wood trim is removed it leaves an indent for it to sit in and your standard door cards won't have it.

Sell the d8 and buy a d9
then you can fit them

As much as i'd like a diesel D9, with severe financial constraints at the mo its a no no im afraid, plus it would have to be a 7 seater one...unless I cheekily removed the 7 seat option from mine before selling it

Although im not sure the additional seats from a D8 would fit a D9 estate?

roy your the only person ever to want to fit wood trim to your doors
usually people want that 90s looking trim off
how about this - D8 doorcard recovered in black material

it only cost me £13
from this
to this
certainly looks better than wood trim

I know mate, tbh I think it was a bit daft of me to consider it
I looked at your recovering a while back thinking it was a cool mod
tbh i'm not a fan at all of the grey wavy lined interior most D8's seem to have, i'm on the look out for a cheap replacement locally

It is possible, with a little bit of persuasion, to put D9 door cards on to a D8 - the cards themselves are a straight swap. You would need to buy D9 electric window switches and rewire them though, as the D8 and D9 switches are differently shaped.
HimBigChief did it, I think, before his cambelt snapped.
Once you get the D9 door cards on, and your car is festooned with horrifically awful kitsch walnut (so bad it's good!), you can nip on to eBay and buy a set of nicer ashwood trim, or if you're lucky, some aluminium-finish trims from an SE-spec car (fairly rare). Either of these options are much more classy. Ashwood doesn't work too well with dark-coloured cloth or black leather door cards. The aluminium does though.

All this talk of D9 doorcards - why not just fit D8 GLX/Exec doorcards as they had the wood trim on as standard?

He already has the D9 door cards with built-in wood trim. They can be made to fit in a D8.
This could potentially be cheaper than buying a whole new set of D8 Exec door cards, but you're right - it wouldn't be as easy as buying and fitting D8 door cards.

D8 exec door cards have leccy windows in back .
and all D9s have leccy windows in back.
hence the reason i covered my own cards because fitting other door cards will not match up with the leccy window switches on the back

Nuh-uh - mine doesn't. Electric front windows and motorized mirrors, but manual winders in the back. It's an early D9 in LX trim.

Yeah, the original LX D9s were properly low-spec. Waue1978's LX came with front fogs, arm rests, all electric windows, and a trip computer - mine came with none of the above.
I have leather cards in mine, but I didn't have to retrim anything. I bought leather door cards from a D9 Exec. Then I cut a little hole in the rear ones for the manual winder handles to go through. Hey presto, job's a good'un. I wish I kept the LX cloth door cards so I could take off the grab-handle and put them on the Exec door cards - the ones I've got come with a little hole cut in 'em for Exec electric windows. I filled the hole with some switches - but they just don't do anything. There's no wiring there for electric windows, or puddle lights. And I'm not good at wiring stuff up, so I never touched it.

are the handles in the back the same on both D8 and D9s.
i might try source a set of D9 leather door cards . change the handle over to get rid of the switch .
but then your left with 4 switches on the drivers door.

No - I only have the switches for 2 electric windows in the front. The plastic panel is the same size and shape for the dual electric windows as it is for the quad electric windows. So the drivers'-side electric window switch for the LX just fits into the hole on the Exec door cards.
