what can i do. ive managed to snap 1 of the bolts that holds the seatbelt clips in place

what the hell can i do. there is no way on earth that this will come out. it was really stiff to start with.

would welding it on be safe ?

In theory it would be as welding chassis sections is considered safe enough, but to be honest, I'd sooner replace the bolt - if you can get the remains out. Where was this bolted? Front, rear?

this is for the passangers side rear belt.

just been to garage they said NO it cant be welded.

he said if he has to take fuel tank off it will be £45. if fuel tank doesnt need to come off it will be less.

he said he will replace it with a new nut and bolt

Sounds ridiculous to pay £45 for a bolt, but when you consider how cheap your interior was (once you've sold on the ECUs) it's still not bad. Especially if £45 is the cost if he has to take the fuel tank off.

I'd pay for that if it was me to be honest.

Drill a hole in the stub and invest in some 'easy outs'

easy outs wont work.

there is a reason why it snapped in the 1st place

its stuck solid.

im gonna pay the garage to drill a big hole through it and use a nut and bolt and secure it that way.

after all £45 is nothing when it comes to the safety of my 7 year old son who sits there

its stuck solid mate. i have allready drilled a 6mm hole in the middle of it and it just will not budge.
best left to the garage i think on friday.

You need to drill right thru it mate,
start off with small bits and work your way up,

it doesent matter if you take out the thread you can add a locking nut it wont afect the mot if its firmly anchored,

just keep drilling mate just have a nosey first and see if you have enough clearence and your not drilling thru the tank,

tank is on drivers side.

nut snapped is on passangers.

you give up to easy get some decent drill bits and give it another try

i took the belts off in my exec and put them back on good and tight and never experienced this perdiciment. But anyhow £45 is not much for a safety device.
At least you have them spare bolts i sent you. Unless that was one of them that snapped, they came out of the donor car very easilly.

the D9 bolts are not as thick as the D8 ones.

anyway car has just been dropped off at garage. let them do it

Did a d8, or d9 bolt break?
The D9 i would have thought had the thicker bolts it had the higher ncap rating.

my D8 bolt broke trying to remove the grey seat belt clip.

The D8 bolt is the Thickest by far

But i have been brutal on 2 occasions when putting them into my D9 and they never broke, having said that when going back in i oiled the thread on both the floor holes and the bolt. Perhaps the D9 uses a fancy alloy.
