Another Boost Gauge Thread..

Post by Hangar18 »

So my D8 has been off the road for a little while now- and I thought what better than to spruce up the interior- done a couple of little bits and pieces that those of you going to the summer meeting at Gaydon will get to take a l(ol)ook at...

Boost gauge... despite not being able to ever type it correctly first time- I would quite like to monitor that boost characteristics of my tubby.

Where to put the gauge then?

I'm not entirely certain the following are possible but I'm wondering if anyone would be able to point me towards or away from making a lot of effort:
- Creating a blanking plate to sit across the cubby hole- so in-front of the gear stick- just behind the ashtray- not sure about the angle of the dial-face though? it'd need to be angled so that the driver could actually see it- therefore maybe not being possible?
- On the pillar? or does that really require somebody to have engineered a replacement fixture plate for it already?
- sunk into the dashboard somewhere?

Any ideas- just throw them at me :)!

Mine's in a pod on the A pillar, but you could always sink it into the drivers side air vent.

Is there a photo in another thread?
Did you have to adapt the interior? or was it a case of a fully replaced pod/pillar cover cut to shape?

Or is it simply just a bolt on/screw on what have ya :P!?

Only pic I could find. It's just a universal pillar mount made to fit. All my pillars have been covered in black leatherette hence why they're not the standard grey.

Not much else to tell. :) I took them out, got some leatherette vinyl and spray glue and covered them in the vinyl. My car's now got the black lower dash trims and black leather D9 doorcards so thought I'd do the upper trims to match. Still need to recover the parcel shelf, but that's all that's left in the interior that's not black now.
