I passed an estate d9 the other day and noticed he had white clocks 8) instead of the boring black ones. Where can i get a set and is there any to fit my petrol d9 saloon (02 plate).

Ask "nivek" on the coupé forums.

I got mine off eBay but they are a rare find. Are these whites available for petrol?

Alternatively.....

I guess the problem with the 406 is there a too many permutations of clocks to make them widely available
I myself bought a spare set of D8 diesel clocks off the bay and sent them to Nivek to make me a set although I'm still waiting on them

The official line is that Peugeot only ever made white dials for the HDi, and was only ever featured on fully-COM2000 models (probably SE spec only, guessing the 2.2 HDi models)

The reason you can't use the white dials on a petrol car is due to the scales printed on the dials - the max speed and max revs on the HDi dials are lower than those on the petrol models. Also, some older models only show four dials (from left to right: fuel level, revs, speedo, water temperature), whereas the official white dials only ever had the full five (from left to right: oil temp, revs, fuel level, speedo, water temperature).

Add that to the fact that D8 clocks are laid out differently to D9 clocks... plus automatics have their gearbox info panel on the rev meter...

Nivek is definitely working on white dials for all 406s - it's a good shout for him because we all want them, and once he's got the material right, it shouldn't be too much work involved to produce variations suitable for pretty much all models.

First I've heard that one. I've seen white dials on all S & SE (saloon & estate) regardless of engine. Here's a petrol SE with them:

Looks ridiculous with the black auto bit though. But D8s are definitely all black.

Shame the clutch played up on mine, otherwise i'd of attended the 406coupeclub meet at Donnington and picked up my white dials of Nivek, and would of had them in for Gaydon

A guy on the coupé forums that is able to use and treat plastics... he's selling rear boot badges and direct ram air intakes, and is looking for the right material to print clocks onto.

Damn! I have never seen or heard of white dials on petrol 406s. I wish I'd known about these previously.

You're right though, the autobox panel looks stupid in black - should have been white with black outlines/lettering.

Nivek is a forum member on these boards too, but primarily can be found on the Coupe Club forums. He makes boot badges for the saloon and Coupe, and under-bonnet air scoops (cold induction feeds) for the Coupe. The Coupe Club also has customized tax disc holders for paid-up members, with the Pininfarina logo on the inside of the car, and the Coupe Club logo visible from the outside, just above where the tax disc itself appears - Nivek makes these for the club as well.

He is looking at making customized dials (any colour/pattern/logo you like) for all 406 variants, and is also looking at making replacement centre caps for the Coupe "Starfish" and "Nautilus" alloys, and I seem to recall he's working on mud-guards for the Coupe too, now that the OEM ones are getting to be rare. Any time I suggest something else he could make (i.e. replacement / customized engine covers) he puts up a facepalm smiley, so I reckon I'm in the doghouse as far as he's concerned :cheesy:

I don't believe they ever made a white dial set for a 4-dial car.
