I think the operative word is "tried", hence them ending up on ebay...

Incorrect assumptions. What we have here is a set of saloon seats where the person fitting them didn't fit the extra side bolsters from the leathers & had to leave the cloth ones in place. Saloon rear seats broken up become:
1 rear seat base
2 pieces for the backrest
& 2 side bolster cushions for the backrest
The estate & saloon rear seats aren't interchangeable primarily due to the 60/40 split on the estate being in a 40/60 layout on the saloon anyway.

Don't know, but I do know that Citroen C5 (Mk1 & Facelift) Hatch & estate seats are interchangeable. According to the Citroen equivalent of Servicebox, they also look very much like they would fit into a 406 estate. May not be first choice for interior mods, but it would give a rear armrest in an estate which no other 406 estate has...

waue, good info there. Never though that the C5 would have seats that would fit the 406

, could be very interesting for someone to try if they have the 2 cars

Unfortunately that idea got blown out this morning. Found a set of leather C5 seats on Ebay last night & asked the seller for some info:
i have seats from 406 and c5 and i just checked.rear base in c5 have clips but 406 screw.also plugs are diffrent.in c5 are 2 sockets but in 406 4 or 5.
