steve_earwig wrote:I don't think so, I think that was about the additional heaters - if you could supply these with an alternative 12 volt power supply all you'd need then is something to pump the water about. That is, if your car has them in the first place (but there's always possibility of retro-fit...)

The standard water pump is driven by the cam belt...

Edit: Not exactly a glowing recommendation http://www.benzworld.org/forums/unimog/ ... eater.html

Right, my bad. How do I know if the car has those heaters? All I know is that the 406 is blazingly fast at heating up in the morning.

They're mostly core plug heaters - remove core plug, fit heater. Note they're mostly Canadian and it does get a touch cold there...

But then before starting I have to remove them and refit core plug!

But doesn't the engine need a core plug?

EDIT: Ok, forget it.
Those core plug heaters are cheap and effective! Why then a dfferent type of heating, such the one I posted earlier?

That might be a problem, for some reason DEFA fits core plug heaters to other engines but not the HDi :? It might be prudent to ask them why. I emailed Kenlowe back in 2007 and they said their hot start could be fitted to the HDi no problem :frown:

I guess if a core plug heater is ok for an HDi you'd then have to find one the right size from ebay Global and a transformer to run it.

I didn't actually find a core plug heater price on DEFA either. I'd guess a 1.9 but I wouldn't put money on it.

Was reading the haynes manual the other night,
on the citreon picassos the hdi ones theres some sort of thing looped in with the heater pipes with wires going to it,
this might pre-heat dunno how they work
looked on the 406 haynes theres no sighn of one of these things fitted to them

if there on citroens why did the pugs get missed out, after all there a sister/brother company :|

Pickarsehole? Interesting...
TURBO DIESEL DW10TD AND AUTOMATIC ADDITIONAL HEATING
6462 F5 WATER REHEATER - UNTIL RPO No. 09491
6462 Q0 - BSI COMM 2000 SINCE RPO No. 09492

This appears to be a box with a pump inside, plumbed into the heater feed pipes. There's a few other bits of stuff including some sort of control unit. Oh, and there are seal kits for them too.

If they don't have that, they have:

DIESEL DV6 AND WITHOUT ADDITIONNAL HEATING OR TURBO DIESEL DW10TD AND WITHOUT ADDITIONNAL HEATING
A) SALE WITH 4 PLUG
6462 E1 RP 6462 T7 WATER REHEATER - UNTIL RPO No. 10912
SEE A
6462 T7 - SINCE RPO No. 10913

I tried all the part numbers on ebay and in google, the T7 was the only one I got a hit for:
http://www.fbt-parts.com/?index=default ... 0&lang=840
Image

I also stuck the number back into both Service Boxes, the t7 was the only one I got any hits for, other than the Picasso:
1 document(s) found for XANTIA II
1 document(s) found for BERLINGO (M59)
1 document(s) found for XSARA PICASSO
1 document(s) found for XSARA
1 document(s) found for BERLINGO
2 document(s) found for XSARA II
1 document(s) found for BERLINGO (M59)

1 document(s) found for Partner (M59)
4 document(s) found for 306 (RESTYLING)
1 document(s) found for Partner (M59)
7 document(s) found for 206
1 document(s) found for PARTNER

So I first hit PARTNER and there it is again, then hit XANTIA II and, along with this little gadget, I get:
DW10 TURBO DIESEL
A) SALE WITH 4 PLUG
6462 C4 NFP WATER REHEATER - AUTOMATIC ADDITIONAL HEATING

So obviously there are a few of these things :?
