hi all
i,ve just changed my 4 dial dash in my 2.1 dt for a 5 dial one , has the oil level guage in the left hand corner.
my question is this when i turn the ignition on the indicator light comes on on the guage the red and green bit,
the needle risesto just over the red to the green then a few seconds later goes out.
so it seems to be working right , but how come it works, i,ve not fitted anything else as in oil level sensors etc
just curious

That's interesting spinus, I've been told that the 2.1TDs all came with the level sensor fitted. What trim level is yours? This explains why it works anyway
So your new panel has level but not temperature, am I correct?
Would you mind telling me what happened to the mileage? Did it pick the highest of the two, or did it add them together?

yep mines a lx
electric front windows, air con no sunroof and abs and wheeltrims.
the guages are oil level speed revs water temp and fuel level.
my original dials have 120000 on them and the new ones are reading 230000.
i.ve made a note of the mileage on the clocks when fitted and i still have my original clocks so i can keep the mileage history correct

Thanks mate, appreciate the info. Perhaps someone with Service Box access can confirm that your car was fitted with the level sensor from the factory.

I'm sure they all have the level sensor - it's easier to make all the engines with the same 50p part than mess about making (and storing) multiple engine configurations which have to be married to the correct chassis'. Companies will always choose the cheapest methods of distinguishing between poverty and premium specs, whether it's building a car without a whole system, or fitting it with all the little bits but skipping the bulbs...
