i tried pressing the little pins in but they dont seem to do anything

Them 2 pins pull out once u pull them out the glove box will drop

need to pry them off do you?

the plastic pins push out mate,

(there shouid be two of them )

I agree with above, just slide the pins out - if a little stiff, use a pair of pliers

got the glovebox door off but having trouble getting the surround off to get access to matrix, taken off 4 screws i think but still wont budge, also wont it mess the air bag off if i take the glovebox surround off?

Oh right, the whole lot off - sure there is a guide on here - think there's about 7 screws need to come out, with a couple of them being right pigs

Don't want to be the bearer of bad news but whilst searching on here there was mention of the whole dashboard needing to come out to sort out the heater matrix

It shouid come out withought removing the full dashboard,
as far as ican see there is a support bar that gets in the way but that couid possibly be pushed out the way,

ive not done the matrix in the 406, but ive done them on 405s theyre a full dash out job,
looks like when they built the 406 theyve learnt from that in some way,

By soround do you mean the trim that goes up the side,

thats just held in place by little torx screws, easy to remove, just watch for it snapping there abeit fragile,

i mean the bit behind the glovebox door, its a big plastic backing
