Estate centre inertial reel seat belt jammed

Post by Doggy »

My bro has this problem on his D8 estate - the rear seat / belts are never used, but he noticied it the other day and the MOT's due in a week or so.......

Anybody had, or sorted something similar?
Or know how to get at it?

Any suggestions gratefully received, (I have a feeling muggins will get roped in eventually).

2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I did this with Wiggy's old back seat mate. Not as bad a job as I first thought to get at, but not too sure about fixing the mechanism:

Just unbolt the belt from the chassis under the rear bench and let ir retract.
Worked a treat on my D8!

Thanks for the info & suggestions guys, now we have some idea where to look.

Maybe I should have said, it's fully retracted and doesn't want to come out to play.

Two things of note - one is that you should let it retract with the car on the flat and the seat locked upright. Second is that if the bolt's seized, there's a risk that the captive nut underneath the car could come free while trying this - as happened with my tubby estate.
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
