its all leather mate,

dash is only sticky in places not all of it,
like you say, its the stuff its made out of, its not like The Materials used in other cars,
Took it too a Valet place its still the same.

As long as the dash isn't sticky on the bits of it that are touched i.e. radio buttons, heater controls etc its not too bad.
Its still annoying though to have a sticky area, does the dash look any different on the sticky areas can you see it darker or any stains on it?
If its leather one of them leather cleaners is the best thing to clean it with.

the clio only had a plastic dash but the steering wheel was the same it left the hands feeling a bit sticky after driving it on a hot day. My mum drives it now and i never notice it being a problem it could be them alcohol hand washes she uses that dries out the leather and takes the stickiness away, they could be worth a try you can get them as the gel or as a cloth. They are also very good as firelighters when the sunny jim is all used up

Have you got a picture of your dash?
The gliptone stuff is great, they do an orange cleaner which you scrub in let it sit then buff off and it gets rid of any stains I've ever seen on the beige seats of the 406 even oil and ink comes off with it. The conditioner they do leaves the leather nice and soft.

The clio was plastic with a sort of leather look effect which is quite matte. The 406 tries the same thing but is let down with its glossy finish, but at least its easy to clean.

It could be the windscreen glue, its unlikely the sun would make the dashboard sticky unless the car in question is a maestro or rover 800.
