Problem with dipping mirror

Hi folks, just installed my "new to me" auto dipping mirror and I am not sure if its faulty or not. It does dip as such but even in the daylight it is never clear, it's as if it is always half tinted, is this normal for the Peugeot mirrors? I have had a number of them including BMW and Ford's but they always are clear when undiped.
What do you think?

This will sound daft but, I once hung one of those car park passes over the back of the mirror (imagine a do-not-disturb kinda door handle sign thing) and it made the mirror very dark.

I notice you have a Magic Tree there, the mirror sensors appear to 'look' forwards and rearwards to adjust the tint.

Sounds silly but worth moving that thing to see if it helps.

If you move it and nothing happens fell free to call me an idiot

Oh well, I'm a bit stuck now then....I've hit my Monochrome Mirror Knowledge Wall

Hopefully someone else can advise further.

Presumably these things need power to work, so what's it like turned off?

Mine isn't tinted at all in daylight, so I'm wondering if the BSI cuts the power off to it when the daylight sensor says it's daylight :?

Yeah has to have a supply to it which is there, when its turned off its the same that's what makes me think its faulty and if yours is ok off that confirms it for me.

You can see it is faulty.
You never replied to PayPal in a month so they found in my favour.
I will send back to you if you cover postage or arrange your own shipping.

That aint working. There should be no dip at all in that light. Should be perfectley clear.
