Headliner D9 saloon

Hi

How do I remove the headliner in a D9 saloon? Ive taken off all grab handles, sun visors, courtesy lights and all the a, b and c pillar trims. It seems as though its stuck to the roof with some sort of glue. I dont want to pull it too hard as the headliner seems very fragile. Is there an easier way to get it off like use a hair dryer to heat and melt the glue??

Cheers
JD

I have the repair manual, hold on.... Hmm, not a lot of use apart from the obvious stuff. You may as well have the whole thing

Unclip the headlining in zone (A).

Release the headlining through the passenger door.

Proceed in the reverse order to removal.
Don't ask me where A is

Hmm. :| The headliner is already loose round the edges it just seem as though its stuck in the centre with double sided sticky tape or glue. I might try and warm the glue with a hairdryer and gently prise it off tomorrow.

Once it's off, how do you get it out? Through the back seats?

Yep, as the last picture shows, it (allegedly) comes out the passenger side front door (although the picture shows it coming out the rhs of a lhd coupé...)

I can believe that for a coupe: the doors are longer and the headlining is shorter.
But in the saloon I'll believe it when I see it :?

I removed the headliner from a 406 a few years ago, there is really strong glue in the middle, if you pull hard enough it will dent the roof so be careful, but a heatgun and scraper should remove the glue. Although its very hard not to damage the headlining when getting it out the door.
