ESTATE OWNERS: Rear row question

Post by Sonia406 »

Well I have been sorting and cleaning the car out and notice that I have 2 protruding bolts coming through the middle of the rear row seats.
A little hard to explain so I have taken pictures.
I presume that since either side I have black covers that I am missing the same for the middle too?
If anyone has a picture of theirs I would like to see it please, just for being noseys sake, do they all measure the same measurements?
What would be the technical term for these?
I came up with 'rear row retaining bolt covers' the trick to this technical lark is to just add 'retaining' and 'bolt' cos usually it pays off :supafrisk:

It probably seems a really silly thing to do to replace them, but why not? I want to look after my car, I want to replace the LX badge on the near side and - this is just another of those jobs where something is missing and I simply will not rest until she's looking as perfect as she did when she left that factory
Maybe a bit extreme but I just want her looking spick and spam, no parts missing or broken...........

Pictures~
(Excuse the dirt - it's a work in progress, see her thread in pictures section!)

What does iirc mean? You keep putting it and I never know
I looked at some pictures earlier on the KB and when you fold the seats down, they are like the hinge covers? Looks so untidy with them missing

60/40. Looks like Sonia's doesn't split (did they come like that?) so doesn't need the middle two hinges.

Just checked Service Box and yep, they sure did  Before you rush down the breaker's, I can count the times I've found a split folding rear seat indispensable I can count on the fingers of one, erm, foot.

I think that the non splitting rear seat is a 7 seat feature. Well, at least my 7 seater is the same.

That's exactly right. Mine was the same & if you check the handbook, there is actually a warning not to remove the backrest from Family versions, but not sure why. Those 2 protruding bolts are where a split seat base mounts & if you look under the boot carpet close to the backrest, you'll find plastic plugs where the holes for the split backrest mountings go.

My rear row seats definitely fold flat. I found the buttons after I first bought the car, curiosity got the better of me
I shall take pictures tomorrow to prove the point, I know for 99.9% sure they move, as I say, the buttons are flush into the seat tops until you press them then when seat not engaged you have a RED thing to tell you it's not engaged properly.
Never had to fold it, having to fit 3 car seats 'n all but I know they definitely fold.

So you think the covers should be in under the carpet in the boot? I shall have a look - thanks :)

Just checked. In the middle, unused, position there is just a bare stud sticking out. A dome nut could be fitted perhaps?
