Hi all,
estate rear 7th seat question.
how do you go about these if removed?
do you notify dvla or do insurers just go ahead and insure as 5 seat

im planning on buying a 7 seater later, but iwill be binning the back seat's as iwill be just using it as 5 seater.
Reason? im paranoid about using back seats/my kids wouid be banned from using them so iwant seat gone.not trying to start debate btw.

Ive' just spoken with insure'r theyre fine with it.
so its just a case of remove.and notify dvla..

once log books change they amend to 5 seat's and change price.

Hi Lozz, I would simply put a load cover in the back and leave the seats where they are - just forget they are there, or..

1) To remove them you will need a donor car for the replacement wooden boot floor / spare cover, replacement metal rings to hold floor down and a couple of other bits and bobs. If you do the swap all you gain is about an inch of height in the boot, as the 7 seats have a slightly raised frame and padded carpet surround.

2) I guess you could keep the seat frame but strip the seats so you have a sort of hidden compartment under the floor... :supafrisk:

3) Sell the conversion for £75 minimum and get replacement bits from a scrapper.

DVLA are cool with the change and tax class is unaffected.
