Location of intake to air recycle in cabin

Post by JensJakob »

Hello

Since my car is a bit smelly I would like to refresh the A/C and heater system. Can anyone tell me the location of the air intake when I choose to recycle the air from the cabin?

Thank you!

It's under the pollen filter (I'm suspecting that's gonna be your problem as the flap is obvious once you remove the filter to change it...)

Pollen filter how to, courtesy farmerpug - http://youtu.be/wa3OeeKmSOU?t=12m49s - I guess yours is going to be a left-hooker so it's a mirror image on the other side.

Maybe I did not explain it properly. There must be an air intake inside the car to suck in the air and recycle it, right?

Not 100% but the other halves 307 has it in the drivers footwell area, try and lie with your head by the pedals and get someone to press the recirc button and you might spot it moving.

Oh, I get it, sorry. I thought if you knew where the flap was... It's actually right there, on the top of the motor. The bit above the motor is open at the front for for fresh air and behind for recirculate, the flap just swings between the two.

You can see it right at the start of this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ62x1zU ... e&index=64 (farmerpug strikes again :cheesy: ), your blower will be on the right like mine but it looks just the same.

On mine, the intake vent for recycling is on the offside panel in the boot.

I have that too, but I thought it was more of a pressure equalisation thing....to prevent the other windows trying to pop themselves outwards when a door is slammed!

I thought it was both sides? :? Anyway, that's for normal ventilation, otherwise air sucked in by the blower would pressurise the interior of the car. On recirculate the air inside the car is just blown around and around.

Yup, it has a hinged flap on it that only lets air out, not in.
For years, I wondered what the 'click' was that could be heard from the boot area when a door was shut....it was the flap opening and closing.
