Speaker Rattle

Post by peugeot30v6 »

My car doesn't have the JBL sound it has the standard HARMAN speakers but, the front doors rattle terribly. This has been the most annoying thing. The bass is on +2. I have thought of getting sound deadening added to the doors but that is a little to pricey at the moment. I have checked all the screws and all of them are tight. What else can I use to stop the rattling

I'd be inclined to take the door cards off and change all the clips. Maybe try the speakers without the covers on and see if they still rattle, the retaining clips may be loose.

I presume from your post you only get the rattle with the stereo on?

Not something rattling in the door pockets is it?

Door pockets are empty. When I push up against the door from the inside its fine.

Perhaps the panel clips are not pulling the panel tight to the door, a strip of draught excluder strip round the edge might help.

The speakers screw into small plastic squares that sit into the holes provided on the door itself, i had to replace these at one time to solve a bit of a rattle noticeable with louder music. Take a look on service box and you should be able to see the squares they are not too expensive from the dealer.

Thanks tried all of those suggestions but no luck. Still rattling, I went to a professional sound place and got sound deadening put on. BIG noticeable difference. No rattling, more bass and treble response aswell. The guy who put it the sound proofing told me he had to re rivet the door handle support inside the door on. Thinking about upgrading my system to the factory JBL aswell as the sat nav display unit.
