Could anyone enlighten me as to what the button on the right hand side - opposite the 'Sport'/'Snow'/'1st gear' button array - of the automatic transmission centre console would be for?
Mine, shown here, has only a blanking plate on it but am curious to know what it would be for in another incarnation or trim level (mine being a GLX)

Can't find it on the diagrams, sorry. It's probably for something that never made it into the car and, in the usual PSA style, they'd already made the mould for the panel (and the blank), and couldn't be asked to redo it.
Interestingly, the diagrams show the AT program button and it looks like if it's got 3 buttons like yours it's an AL4 but if it's got 2 it's an HP20. Could have done with knowing that a few years ago...

It's an access hole to release the shift lock solenoid which was prone to getting stuck on the AL4 boxes.
