Interior plastic

Thanks very much for allowing me to join. I have a question re interior plastic trim. I am about to purchase an 03 Coupe and found that both the centre console plastic (Gear selector surround and ashtray) and volume button on the stereo have degraded. The surface is soft and sticky. Can these still be purchased in UK/Europe as a spare part? Is this degradation common? Has anyone had the console top retrimmed in leather in order to cover it? Thanks
