Post by ThePrisoner »

Just purchased this beast!

Been looking for one for ages, the standard one looks bland, but I didn't want to install one of them terrrible 'racing' aftermarket ones.

Should look nice wih the walnut and leather trim.

Nice! What condition's your old one in? I could do with a replacement as the leather's half peeled/worn off mine and it really does look a bit manky...

Wow that is an impressinve knob you have there.

My knob is the same as yours Pris (a standard one) and I have been having terrible trouble with the end of my knob 'creaking' a bit when I change gear.

I have been wondering how I would get my knob end off the shaft though because I didn't want to twist it round to far and pulling at my knob end just didn't do anything.

Can anyone help?

Do you have any plans for it after it's retired? *hint* :)

Sounds like you should see someone about that... or try more lubrication... :cheesy:

Not then Welton, If it's like the 306 and my coupe, it's a case of pulling your knob straight up whilst your kneeling on the seats. Be careful as when you do get your knob off, it can hit you in the face.

(how immature can we get)

PS, this is all true, I nearly had a bloody nose getting the knob off our old 306.

So, let me get this right - you 'stradle' your knob, grip the knob end with both hands and give it a firm tugg off - but be carfull it doesn't hit your face, right?

Would it be adviseable to get Mrs Welton to grip the shaft whilst I pull on the end?

You could ask Mrs Welton to perform the whole task and keep your hands behind your head if you like.

That's my evening tonight sorted then 8)

I shall be getting me knob pulled off.

Thinking about it though - the ladies are not exactly 'expert' at pulling one's knob off and it could take an unreasonable amount of time. I think I'll do it myself.

It's amazing how men are labelled as "pervs" when in fact it's the girlies who fall into that category.... 8)

Well I took delivery of my new knob today, and what a nice knob it is!

However, I thought it was leather and it isn't. I don't want to swap my leather knob for an inferior one, so I am going to try and swap just the tops of the knobs so I still have my leather knob with a nice silver top.

Problem is I can't get my bastard knob off for want of pulling....

Will keep you updated.
