Water under rear bench.

Hello All,

I'm getting water under the rear bench of my estate and cant find the source.

Windows and doorseals are all ok and I don't have an obvious track in the dust under the bench leading to an ingress anywhere.

Any clues?

No-one else seems to experience this but under the seat on my D9 estate are two plugs (one each side over the fuel tank), I didn't have a flood but I noticed they'd both come off and the bottom of the seats were soaked, along with loads of that horrible red stuff. I glued them down with mastic, it won't be happening again!

Hi Steve,

Might try gluing them in too, had an experimental pick at one and it fell out fairly easily.
Time to reach for the ultimate Pug repair (bathroom sealant).

It's not a new problem for the car as the seat bases have rusted clean off.
Had the car since May and thought it had stopped leaking as the seats were dry, wet weather again and seats are soaking.

Have a look at the rear light seals, these have been known to leak in the coupes.

Checked that first as the nearside light cluster had been melted at some point in it's life.
Checked both seals when I replaced the cluster.
Both were ok.

Weird, so has mine (although it's off side here...) the one on the boot lid too, as well as the bumper and the air vent inside, when I bought it I thought the lights had come from the scrappy 'til I spotted the rest. I always assumed it got too close to a car fire.

Weird indeed,

The bootlid light cluster looked as though it had been melted from the heat coming from the main cluster.
Possibly caused by a previous owner running a dual filament bulb rammed in the wrong way.
The heat from that might be enough to deform the light casing.
