HI guys,
Its been a few years since i have been in a scrap yard to buy naything substantial and whilst i was in this weekend i was having a poke around in a 406 GLX saloon.
Now i have a 406 LX and was wondering whether my car has the same wiring loom as the GLX model just without the actual switches and components being there, in other words can i grab some bits from the GLX and find the appropriate wiring lurking in my car and just plug them in?
If so what buts are worth having?
Mines a 2.1td btw if it makes any difference.
Also whist n the subject of swapping things, whats the chances of just swapping the drivers and passengers seats over, straight swap or too complicated?
Thanks
What bits can be added as plug and play?

Unfortunately the wiring looms are unique to the model. Bits can be bodged into the D8 however if you're competent with a soldering iron and aware that the Haynes wiring diagrams aren't quite right. One thing you probably won't be able to add is a trip computer due to the different ECU on the diesels.
The chairs will go in, but if they're electric you'll have to find a high current permanent 12v feed and do without the memory functions (unless you also rip the ECU from under the drivers seat and do major work to wire it in..
If it's a D9 you'll have to not only ensure wiring compatibility with the multiplexed system, but also get your BSI reprogrammed at a dealer - £££

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

There's other thread on here about retro-fitting stuff so have a wee search. What would make it easier is if you have the connectors on the wiring loom for stuff, e.g. my D8 has the wiring for cruise control.
Not sure about the seats, the seat belt clips are on them so I suppose only if they're part of the subframe.
