Leather Seats

Post by johnny406 »

I've been offered Leather Seats out of a T reg 1999 406 Executive in Cream with the Armrests, the heated seat switches and most of the wiring, I'm gonna pick up one of those hacked 406 couple seat ECUs off Ebay that you just have to apply power to and Robert such be my dad's brother.... however I've heard that the D9 interior won't fit into my 1998 D come on it's less than a years difference for god sake....

How different are the rear seats? Surely there is someway of getting it to fit the interior is perfect and I love the armrests..... Please help....

Oh another point I have 2 plugs under my drivers seat...... they aren't electric at the moment.... Pretentioners and Heated Seats? So with the Heating Functions So I just need the Switches that go in the pen holder and the plugs and wiring is all there....

Many thanks Guys, Appriciate any help.

Wasn't T reg when the crossover was? If the rear seats have 2 head rests you should be fine, if there are 3 then the fitment is different. The front seats from any revision 406 should fit fine, you would just have a lot of spare connectors on the bottom of the seat from a D9 (i went the other way, D8 seats into a D9), the rear sizes are the same, just the release mechanism to use then load through area is different, D8 has the button release on the top of the seats, D9 has the metal hook on the back of the seat which hooks in and is released by the levers in the boot.
I swapped the upholstery on mine, only actually got rid of the left over parts a month ago, so i had D9 back plate on D8 leather, i think i've recovered the pics from when i did it which i'll post later.

Thanks so I should be okay, the car it's coming out of seems to be a proper D9 it has the facelift headlights, Grill and The Crappy Rear Lights with the colour coded stripes. Anyways I will count the headrests :cheesy: Much appricated by the way and the pictures could prove to be useful too :cheesy: One question will the ECU out of the coupe work?

D8.5! does that mean the facelift parts will fit on my D8 or like Steve_Earwig said there are so many differences you'd need to change slam panels and an all manner of things.

Is the only difference between a D8.5 and D9 the Multiplex Electrical System BSI Bullshit Crap.

I Love my D8

And to think I was going to Buy a Ford Mondeo to Replace My Focus... Shame on Me :O I bought French and Liked it.

These ones to be precise...

Also can someone explain to me why you only need a inline fuse and connection from the positive of the battery and then to the ground surely this cannot be, it's not a complete circuit unless does it use the car body as the ground and the connects it to the negative, I've never understood this. Like when you jump a battery and it's Positive to Positive and Negative to Engine Part (Ground) Hmm my basic knowledge of electronics damn... Although my T60P seems to like me :P and that's had a the keyboard connector resoldered onto it :)

D8.5 seems to be when they were going to phase in the new models, D8 electrics, mostly D9 interior, D8 front end, D9 rear end. (I think thats basically right), Its like they were trying to use up old parts! I think i still have an ECU from a crossove model saloon, not sure if i still have the wiring loom though, previous guy butchered it so i did my wiring the easy way (got a GTX which was already electric)

Correct. There's no ground connection on a car for obvious reasons, so to supply everything with a consistent 0v, the body is used at as few places as possible where there's strong low resistance connections
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Right I have a D9 Interior Now From A Banged Up D9 with a little frontal Damage, the airbags didn't deploy so the pretentioners should be alright... but if they are not I'm sure I'll be pestering for advice to change them with my old ones. So anyway D9 back seats are different, how hard is it to change over the apulstory from my D9 back seats onto the D8 do they just zip off and zip on, if only it were that simple but nothing ever is  anyways got a decent condition interior, and as much wiring and the D9 leather stitched door cards for £120  Thought I did pretty well just a polish and they will be mangificant.... can't wait to get them in wired up and heated ;) hopefully it will be easy gonna get an ECU off Ebay if the ECU I pulled from the car doesn't work as apparantly they have been modded so you just need a Fuse Positive, Ground and to plug the seats in. Don't care about Mirrors but apparantly the memory functions work this way too :D I'll post pictures when I'm done with my Green Machine :D But need some advice as to the fittings of the back seats. Thanks Guys.
