how do i remove and replace drivers seat?

Post by mkultr4 »

Hi

The metal frame at the base of the drivers seat on my 2000 1.8 lx saloon has snapped making the seat pretty unstable.
i have called around a few scrapyards and have been told there is a 406 drivers seat available but not sure what model 406 it comes from.
i have no idea how to replace the seat despite trawling the web for instructions.
i am also wary of picking up the wrong type of seat for my car i.e electric etc as my 406 does not have that. or a seat from a new model which might have different bolt positions from my car.
aside from removing bolts from the floor, what else do i need to do to remove and replace the drivers seat?
any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

At the back of the seat you will find two philips head screwdrivers holding on the plastic protectors which need to be removed first. As far as i can remember, its just four big torx screws at each corner of the seat. You also have to remove the seatbelt base as it is connected to the seat. Airbag is connected by two orange wires which can be disconnected from the pretensioner and the bottom of the seat then receonnected into the new seat.
