Interiors?

Post by Bailes1992 »

Just wondering what interiors go in what?
I have a D8 estate and the interiors a bit scabby.
Can I get a D9 estate interior? or even a D8 Saloon etc?

Thanks, Bailes.

In a nutshell:

D8 and D9 door cards are incompatible
Estate and Saloon back seats are incompatible
D8 and D9 front seats are the same
D8 and D9 back seats are incompatible
Dashboards are the same
D8 and D9 instrument clusters + controls are incompatible
D8 and D9 centre consoles (plastic around the handbrake, gear lever, etc) are different but interchangeable

Umm, are you sure about that?

Anyway. in answer to the OP, a D9 estate interior will go straight in (with some fettling if it's electric), no chance on a saloon.

So I can find any D9 interior from an estate and it will go straight in?

Could I fit the door cards if I got thre brackets? And how easy would it be to rewire the electric windows?

Doesn't sound "straight in" to me

Seats straight, door cards a touch of brainwork. Hey, the inside of the doors could be completely different, instead of that even the holes for the rivets are there.

Right plan of action...
Find a D9 interior. Find the same material as it and get the D8 door cards retrimmed :)

Sounds expensive  D9 door cards, if you can't find a friendly breakers to get the brackets off they're about 3 quid each from Pug. I'm not sure how difficult rewiring the switches will be, if you have a multimeter (cheap and ever so useful) or a test lamp I can talk you through it. Obviously you'd need to get the door cards, together with the connectors, then it's just a matter of operating each switch on each panel, noting which wires the switches put shorts across, then cutting your connectors off and connecting up the new ones with reference to your notes. Then breaking out the marshmallows...

Are estate and saloon door cars compatible?

Yep, got D9 door cards in my D8, need to redo the wiring for the switches and get the proper mounts for them to be in properly, but easy enough swap.
