Pfft, I'd rather the oil was £40.00 or something. It's got to be Fully Syn 0W/30 piss-thin and I need just over 6ltrs at £15.00/l :frown:

I can't be bother to go look what it is but the Yoyo's meant to have something expensive in it, however my buddy Goran in the car spares shop does me cheaper stuff, same grade and everything, for about 30 quid for 5 litres. And it certainly doesn't get the platinum plugs it's meant to have. Piece of crap's lucky to get anything

I was out with him yesterday, delivering some brake disks up in Svete Jana, and we drove past the mechanic that did my d8's clutch. I didn't know Goran then but apparently the guy has a reputation for taking the nice, expensive oil that you've given him to fill up your pride and joy with, selling it, and filling it up with the cheap stuff he buys by the barrel instead. Oh, and fitting reconditioned clutches but charging for new ones...

I suppose there's only one way to be sure what you buy goes into your car, and that's to do it yourself. Or do what I do: hang around watching but try not to get in the way. Also hold the light, look stuff up on the internet, calibrate the balancing machine, pay for coffee, hold the fort, lend a helping hand... :supafrisk:

The Focus ST uses ford spec 5w30.
Might be an option for the Volvo?

I've fired off an e-mail to Opie Oils, looks like I can get the Oil for less - I just kinda accepted the price because it's always been high for the last 4 years. I hadn't ordered the £100 oil yet - good job too.

Bailes, I owe you one!

Opie say that 5W/30 is perfect, checked my handbook when I got home and that said 5W/30 too. Volvo did a deal with Castrol in 2005 and only used 0W/30 from that point (no idea why) so that's all the dealers will sell you :|

I've ordered 7 ltrs of Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S Ester Fully Syn 5/30 I've had loads of Fuchs oil for my previous cars so know it's good stuff.

Saved £25.00 AND got the Filter element

I've just had a bit of luck, while placing the order for the Fuchs stuff I cheekily asked if I could use a discount code........

I got one and it saved me 25%

I'm now 'up' at least £45.00 and I've got probably the best oil money can buy

My bimmer... 8 spark plugs, 2 activated charcoal pollen filters (as if i can be arsed with that!), half the north sea worth of oil...

I looked up the price of new wing mirror glass the other day... £300 each, or £180 from eurocarparts! Ok, so they're heated and auto-dimming, but sod that!
