Welly in the Guinness Book of Records

Last Sunday I took part in 'Volvo600' at that Bruntingthorpe proving ground (famous Airfield).

The aim was to break the current World Record of the most Volvo's in convoy in the same place. Current record is 600-something and we* achieved 1537!

I was car number 1128, they'll be some drone-type footage soon for anyone interested.

Wow! That's a lot of Ovlovs

I'm sure VW could get in there too with the most VW's in a carpark. Or airfield, or whatever...

It was a bit stop-start and a lot more than 1500 turned up but yes at some point in the day over 1500 cars were actually moving.

Better movement than Auckland traffic in rush hour then...

The record attempt has been rejected by the RBofR as apparently the gaps between the cars in the video were too large.

They're going to try again next year and I shall be there in my V40! I was gutted the one this year was on Mothers Day.

What the have to do next year is line them up in order of power output, so the most powerful car is at them back. Then get them all touching and use the car at the back to push the whole lot... :supafrisk:

R Book of Records? Not G? Is that a typo or am I showing my iggnerants? You watch, on the next attempt the cars will be the wrong colour or something dafter.

Yes I found out yesterday :(

To be honest there was far too many cars there I think it surprised the organisers and it kinda fell into a free for all, no-one knew what was going on half the time. It was a good atmosphere though so glad I went, it was good to see inside Bruntingthorpe it's literally 10 minutes from my house
