interior blowers not working!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

interior blowers not working!

Post by robconnors1977 »

Can anyone help please.

I have a 406 2.0 hdi 2001

The interior blowers work when they feel like it although now they have stopped totally.

I have checked the motor, thats ok, No 12v going to motor though, I have removed the module / Resistor from behind the centre console, and there is also no 12v going to that either!

Where do i go from from here. I Replaced the ignition barrel only six months ago, so how do i check if thats faulty or not?

Did you check for power to the module with the engine running? You will only get power to the module with the engine running.

It does sound like the ignition switch , with the engine running and the
blower turned on try wiggling the key to see if the blower cuts in or
out .
.. ooh are those drugs for me Matron

hi im having a problem with the alternator, the little wire on it that controlls the charge light is conected to an engine running relay which once a charge is present in the alternator, allows various high power circuits to function. one of them being our interior blower a/c

on a std (normal car) alternator this little wire is earthed and the light goes out. however i am waiting for a 406oc member to confirm that on these cars the alternators little wire supplies 12v and then activates this relay "engine running relay"then your fan works.

on my 406 executive the relay is the first black one on the left in the fuse box under the bonnet theres 4 or so all the same try swapping them around to see if your fan works.

Hello to one and all my first time posting on here and I'm yet another one with interior fan failure,I've got as far as the previous posts, motor works ok with direct feed, no power on red and black wires, what looks like the heater element has no power going to it with the engine running etc. I have tried searching on here but can't seem to find an answer, any help greatly appreciated. What with car and bike problems I'm at my wit's end.

When my blowers packed up, it was the large white connector block trying to short out that leads to the fan behind the glove box.
Get under there and trying giving them a wiggle.
If it starts working, then remove that connector, and replace with a new comparible one.

Latest update, and possibily a top tip, checked power supply to 40amp fuse in the 12fusebox, no power, bypassed it and the blower kicked in. No power at all to the 12fuse box  , so I'm trying to find the break in the circuit, thinking it is a grey wire from the ignition that goes in the back but it is very hard to locate so if anyone has any ideas they would be greatfully received all the connecters fro the ignition look ok.

Hi,
Seems your key switch has lost one feed out. Mine has, and I have wired in a 40 amp relay to replace this feed, which is triggered from a functioning key switch circuit. This feed supplies the control panel and fans on my 406 estate.
