Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Had an issue with driver dip - bodged to passenger dip - so both crack up now - also fitted new auto tensioner and ecliptical tensioner - my problems is now thus......

cracked car up to check now bodged bulbs - spot on, also wanted to check tensioners - sound - had it ticking over for a bit no probs

Noticed couple bulbs gone in dash, always blag bulbs from scrappy so changed them, cracked car up - all working but switched heater on, worked then stopped - had all fuses out, none blown - cracked car up again - ticking over ok then abs light came on and stayed on - car ticked over - got to 105 degrees fans kicked in then car stopped as if took keys out - have engine light on and both red and green on keypad (fob buggered) - undid battery for 10 - 15 minutes -took ecu out and had a squint (was hot though it is sat above water res) - checked all fuses again - ignition on - all bulbs go out that should except abs and eml - and the red and green on keypad

If any better a pointer - the staereo would start up with no keys in and outside temp guage would also stay on

Any ideas would be appreciated

Cheers

Done - suspect someone did some DIY wiring - as a last resort just filled up all fuse spaces (the ones on here that should be left spare) and it worked - woohoo

Next question - how do you unplug keypad as my fob is knackered and I want to disable pad as very annoying when you just stop for diesel or a paper and you need to key in every time

Last question - i have the 1996 exec - if i want to use this as a donor (seats etc) is there a specific 406 model I need (i.e. LX/GLX etc) to ensure electrics compatability and I assume it needs to be a 1996 - 1999 model

Cheers
