Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Boot light not working

Post by FarmerPug »

My saloons boot light has quit working, i have checked all the under the stering wheel fuses, and the bulb is fine, i cant get 12v on my multimeter from the bulb holder plug, i have took out the rear parcel shelf and checked all the wiring and its ok, and as for the button to say the boot is open i still am getting it up on the screen to say the boot is open. I have an led strip in the boot which draws power from the boot light, and it gets its positive from the boot light, and its negative is earthed to the metal of the car. What could be wrong here?

If it's the same as a D8 the boot lid switch goes dicky over time, I think it's a mercury jobby. I found that if you jiggle the boot lid around the light will come on.

i must need glasses, because i got a magnifing glass out at the fuse box and found there was a 10amp fuse had blown, and for some reason this being french electrics the seat memory was also lost without this fuse and the mfd had died, why would these 3 things be on the same fuse, but changing the fuse solved the problem.

It's because Piere le concepteur looks at the plans and goes 'zat one, zat one et zat one' then jams which ever bits he picked though the same fuse. After which, Francois comes along to f*ck up the soldering.
