406 HDi Exec - Prob with Sat Nav display

Post by Brummie »

Have read some comments in another thread re how 'crap' the built in sat nav is supposed to be.. well it's been near enough for me all these years!!!!

..anyway CD player works fine, problem is on the dashboard display (assume it's an LCD type panel of some sort?). Some random areas of display don't always illuminate, meaning can't always read all the characters when inputting a destination etc.

1. Does anyone know if it's an easy job for me to swap the panel out myself? (I'm thinking I might be able to source one from a scrapyard).
2. Anyone know where I might find a supplier?
3. Anyone reading this who has same system but maybe thinks it's "crap" - can I have your display please? :cheesy:

All answers very much appreciated.

For sourcing parts, i'd always recommend registering on the 406coupe club forum, a pm member Ade1122
He is their resident breaker
I myself have bought a number of parts from him for my saloon, and is good to deal with
He's also on ebay under the same user name, but it's usually fractionally cheaper to buy from him through the club
1999 D8.5 HDi GLX - Sold :(

2007 Mondingo Zetec - I seek forgiveness :( Bring back my 406
