Problems with fan and reverse lights

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Problems with fan and reverse lights

Post by ttul00 »

Hi,

I have problems with the fan to the aircon and the reverse light. Checked the owner manual and they are on the same fuse (12).
Checked and changed the fuse with no success. There is no broken fuses. in the car at all and when messuring on the fuse box I have power. Any ideas?

I am guessing that there is a wiring problem close to the fuse. Reverse light and aircon is quite different things.
Any ideas how to get in behind the fuses in the fuse box to messure in the connectors or cables. Ís there anywhere a wiring diagram to look at.

Hi there, welcome :cheesy:

Age is the most important one as there were some pretty big changes in '99. Wiring diagrams are also a bit hard to come by, there's the ones in Haynes of course, but they're about as reliable as a politician's election pledges :(

I think the common failure on the D8 fans is the ignition switch, I've not heard of it affecting the reversing lights but then they're not really something you see from the inside of the car... Try wiggling the key about first.

My bro's D8 fan worked erratically then stopped altogether. It was due to sloppy connectors at the fan - just bent them a bit with a small screwdriver to tighten them up - it's worked for about a year so far.
