disconneted wire under drivers seat

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

disconneted wire under drivers seat

Post by xero01uk »

While cleaning my car this other week i noticed a wire that has clearly become disconnected (pulled apart) it looks like a small 4 or 6 pin connecter, ive tried to reconnect it but its hard to reach

Can anyone shed any light on what this could be?

Model: S reg 406 SRi

thanks in advance

If you could put a picture up it would help but without it i can say there is airbag plugs for the pretensioner but if they are disconnected youd see the airbag fault light on. Does you car have heated, and electrically adjustable seats can you notice anything not functioning.

i'll try and get one, shortly

the passenger seat doesnt have this wire under the seat so im guessing its not a heater of anykind

the airbag light does come on when the key is turned but goes off again when the engine starts

will post again when i get pic

All sounds normal, what do you get with sri spec is there heated, or electrically adjusting seats? did you see the wire popping out it could just be there for adding on something.

the SRi doesnt come with heated or electric seats (tbh the seats need a good valet rofl)
just having a look in near darkness i could see that one end of the socket was blue and the other end was red, i couldnt get a clear image with my camera due to the lack of light in the car park, but i'll get one tomorrow.

The blue end of the wire is taped together with alot of other wiring so its hard to see where it goes.

Also looking at the airbag light again, it comes on when the key is turned and turns off a few seconds after the engine is running

that airbag light is normal, you would have cause for concern if it stays on and shouts AIRBAG FAULT in the multifunction display MFD. Really a picture is needed but it cant be too serious.

Well ive managed to get some pics (sorry about the crap quality)

i was mistaken out the colour of the wire sockets, there are 2 wire sockets, one white and one red.

Ive tried various way to get them connected but they wont fit together (so im guessing they dont fit together)

All other underseat wiring is connect and correct

You can just make out the white socket at the bottom of the pic (next to the blue one)

Again sorry about crap photos

Looks a bit like the pics in this thread viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12400&p=110203&hilit=+red#p110137

I0'd have thought the plug would go in a socket of the same colour :?

ive tried every rotation possible and it simply wont clip together

the car doesnt come with heated seats or anything like that

thanks for the link mate, i'll have a proper feel and look underneath the drivers seat tomorrow to see if i can find the other red connection
