Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

That's the sat nav unit holder you've got above your amp. The gps aerial was just jammed into one of the speakers.

I always assumed it was in the speaker on mine so it could 'see' through the speaker grill and back window.

...might help you!

(I happened to be trying to find out how to clean the lens on my Sat Nav system; I found the disc but it is "unreadable" apparently - common fault, just needs a lens clean)

might be usefull info...
ive just bought a front bumper off a v6 off ebay for my 99 hdi D9 glx estate, and also bought for 15 quid ! the sat nav box that fits in the boot, sat nav mfd, remote controller ,2001&2005/6 orignal peugeot discs stll in the box! and black plastic frome which sat nav unit sits in in rh side of boot
anyway ive fitted the 'buttonless' mfd- straight swap plug was the same and it works without pp2000.remote allows date & time change ect.fuel comp works ok and has more view options...i like it! ie you can have live avrg consumption, mile, left in tank etc ,radio station, all viewable on one screen, +more
i dont seem to have sat nav cables factory fitted ,prob cos my cars too old ,so pug satnav is prob not gonna happen,i do however have a rear mounted later peugeot estate stubby radio ariel which has a sat nav ariel mounted in the base which ill try and connect to my flip screen aftermarket built in satnav.so i think you will need this including the long loom which goes to dash. the sat nav cable however is much shorter i guess it goes to rear boot side panel
hope this helps , and makes sence , ive written this tired ,1/2 pissed

Me again
Just had a look at the sat nav unit , on back there are two plug hole/sockets , one blue 26 pin (two rows of 13) - looks the same as you previous pic ,and i think the big round connector in your pic is for the pug Jbl amp so doesnt go into satnav unit cos i remember unpluging it when taking the nav unit out and one small hole socket for the nav antennae (looks a bit like a ethernet socket) and thats it.

When changing the mfd do you have to get it to sync with the ecu? if so how do you do it
