Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Led Bonnet Lights

Post by FarmerPug »

Since these days have been dark and at times its handy to be doing things under the bonnet like checking oil, or filling winscreen wash it can be tricky in the dark so i got some Led strip lights and a switch and wired them up.

It was just a case of taking out the bonnet liner, using a combination of glue and cable ties to hold the striplights in place, then sending the wired down the side of the bonnet across the hinge, through the scuttle, along the bulkhead wire, past the right strut tower and into the fuse box to the switch, then a 12v feed from the battery to the switch. It was very easy and to turn them on just requires flicking this toggle switch mounted in the fuse box lid:

So now audis arent the only thing with lights in the bonnet.
