Hi guys just a question about changing batteries .I had to buy a new battery as the old one discharged twice in the cold weather . After I changed the battery my courtesy light which didnt work started to work also my rev counter which didnt work started to work intermittentl y just wondered if there wasnt enough charge in the old battery would this cause the light and rev counter to not work or is it coincidence .thanks in advance ....Rob

No, as you don't have a BSI
I'm at a loss to explain this, especially the courtesy light which is completely electrical (not electronic) on the D8. The rev counter just relies on a feed from the engine ECU too, which is unlikely to cause such a problem... Even (to my recollection) the wiring is completely diverse for the light and rev counter bar about 3 foot of the main interior harness around the ventilation distribution area
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Thanks MJB no BSI one less thing to worry about at least the courtesy light is working although the rev counter is bouncing around like a 406 fuel guage

its odd wiring but it seems to fix itself after a while. I wouldnt actually blame the wires, i blame the boxes at the end of the wires and the connectors holding these wires in place.
