headlight washer jet problem and questions

Hi I have the 2001 peugeot 406 executive 2.0HDI

The car seems to have washer jets for the headlights, I tried using them with the headlights on and there seems to be nothing. I hear a motor run, But the waher jets dont even come out the flap or anything. Could anyone help with this?

It's a common problem I'm not sure what happens but there are 2 pumps; one for the screen and one for the lights. Mine never worked but everyone on here said they are only useful for making a mess of your bonnet so I left them.

The bottle and pumps are behind the drivers wheel arch but forward of the wheel area if you want to have a look. The washer jets themselves work on water pressure and rise forth majestically under there own steam (if at all ). I don't know if there's a separate fuse for the pump anyone??

According to the handbook (on the INFOTEC webpage on ServiceBox - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/dd ... _en_us.htm):

In the engine bay fuse box, fuse no. 7 (a 20A fuse) protects the headlamp washers.

It doesn't say which fuse looks after the windscreen washer pumps though Probably the same damned fuse

My advice: Open the engine bay fuse box and take a quick look to see if any of the fuses are blown.

i replaced the 20a fuse yesterday it blew in the frost, and the headlight washers are going again. They are a great thing, at washing the headlights although ive never really needed them washed, its good if the windscreen squirters freeze up, and at scaring the dog out of the way, and they look good, in the way pop up lights did.

Thanks for the help. I looked under the car and found a pipe that has become detached from somewhere, It looks to be the big clear hose that sends water to the headlight jets, So if they work on pressure im hoping this will solve the problem! . Just got to find where to hook the hose back upto now!

I appreciate your sharing this information. I was wondering how do you adjust the pressure. The water seems to squirt out and misses the target.
