c'mon BSI reset tried (and failed)

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Just having a squint in the schematics, do your electric windows work?

Everything there is off the BSI, even the mirrors have their power from it.

Oo, one more thing - what year is it?

Ah, the schematics don't cover the early D9 :( Did anyone direct you towards this yet? viewtopic.php?f=10&t=12118

Stupid place for multi plugs like that :frown:

Yeah, fingers crossed. Not a nice fault but hopefully that's it, rather than something worse.

i thought such strange goings on were the exclucivity of multiplex d9 owners only. But i hope it solves your problem

on another issue, i dont see how water conducts electricity, i put a wire from a 9v battery into water, then the other bit of wire into the water, then to a bulb and another wire straight back to the -ve and it didnt light the bulb, so water conducting electricity as far as i can see isnt happening.

Not multiplex but it has a BSI and those connectors are probably still there, marinading in rust...

And back to O level physics we go  Ions in the water conduct the electricity, I seem to recall pure water doesn't conduct much but the impurities make ions and they do. A connector sitting in a puddle of rusty water will pass all sorts of current. Tap water does conduct but it passes a very small current, what you should have done is substitute the bulb for a meter set on the milliamp scale.

For a more dramatic effect, seeing as how the human body is something like 93% water, get two lengths of wire, a plug and a light bulb. Connect one end of each wire to the plug and bare the other ends. Then hold each bared end in each hand, put the bulb in your mouth and plug it in. The bulb won't actually light but you'll be too busy thrashing about on the floor to notice, it'll also give the paramedics something to laugh about when they turn up

as a child i was once curious to discover mr electricity that i took out the bulb of a desk lamp, plugged the lamp in and put my finger where the bulb went, i learnt the meaning of a trip switch and was indeed not in the same place when i had done this. But what else do you do when your 5 but get electrocuted, eat cleaning products and fall over all the time.

have another clean at the connectors, take the bsi out and clean its connectors even more it took someone 3 times to be lucky, check the rear lights for water ingress. And then failing that get it sent off

I'm thinking if the BSI's got corrosion outside it could have it inside too...
