Reprogramme key

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Reprogramme key

Post by lionyo »

Hi,

How do I reprogram the remote key fob on a 2003 406, tried the handbook manual instructions but didn't work. Replaced the dead remote battery.

I lost r/c operation on mine after disconnecting the car battery. You ought to be able to re-synch it, but it wouldn't - have a look here
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Is their some way I have to enter a password and then synch??

Their is a spare key but it is not a button type one. The battery on the remote was totally dead so I have now replaced it with a new one.

i see, your car is a pre multiplex, but i thought a re sync is the same as a multiplex, ie put the key to the first turn and hold in the lock button until a bleep occurs.

Did you read through the link in dogslife's post? The remote central locking is a swine to get resynced. I have tried all the posted procedures but none of them work, I think it would be a case of getting the code as mentioned in the link above and reprogramming with PP2000 (which I don't have, so I don't think I'll bother with this car! )

Don't have the code unfortunately, just going to keep on trying. Any methods that anyone could suggest?

This bit tells you how to get the code - (you might need it for something else one day)
