Tow bar electrics!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Tow bar electrics!

Post by EdN »

I have got hold of a towbar for my W reg 110HDI estate.
Fitting it is no problem, a very comprehensive instruction sheet and fixings kit came with it.
The problem is the electrics which I hate doing myself.
I have found a yellow and a blue connector behind the offside rear light cluster that look as if they might besomething to do with it.
Are these what I should connect to, if so where do I get the other half of the connectors from?
I got the towbar from Towequipe of Ebay for £83 which included everything, towball and electrics and postage,
which seemed a good deal when you look at the price of the few secondhand ones about!

No just single electrics, so that I can tow my Dellow trials car around.

Here is how the plug goes on:

Basically its taken off the wires going to the back lights, dont use the blue splice connectors they are rubbish and why i am not getting trailer sidelights at the moment. Solder or terminal blocks are better.

when i removed my rear bumper a few weeks ago there was a plug on the off side under the light cluster, that come from the gromett under the light.

i'm sure this would be for a towbar,

usually with pugs every plug on the car is different so it will only go in the designated place. it will not plug onto another plug if its not for that if you know what i mean.

basically it will only fit onto what its meant to fit onto. if its not for that the plug will not fit :?

Thanks for all the advice, but as the car goes for its MOT tommorrow, the electrician is going to do the wiring for me.
