I have a 1999 T reg facelift Peugeot 406 HDi (90), I have been trying to work out alarm wiring fitting and setup proceedure (yet to be fitted) but following my research on a number of websites, there appears to be a cut off point before "multiplex" vehicles.
Now I am fairly certain I have a BSI on the car but I dont believe my vehicle is multiplexed, can anyone out there in forumland advise me how i clarify if my car is "normal" or is multiplexed?
All 406s have multiplex wiring, but they decided to multiplex a lot more in the cars from 2001 onwards, right when the COM2000 system was introduced. This is what we refer to here as a multiplexed car (or "full mux"). Lozz, your car is not full mux.
And even if it was, then don't worry about it - my Coupe is fully mux and it's just fine (other than the fuel cap sensor being duff, and the heater on the driver's seat not working - both of which can happen to pre-mux cars like yours anyway).
2002 (D9) Peugeot 406 Coupe SE, 2.2 litre Petrol. Scarlet Red/Rouge Ecarlate/Rosso Scarlatto. Black Leather interior. SOLD
2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.
Okay then, so to clarify despite being an "early" 1999 (one of the first mark 2 versions) it IS multiplexed even if its not fully multiplexed, so i can't really add anything other that what is dealer designed for the job i.e the suggested main dealer alarm 9671.zk (in my case) otherwise it would upset the BSI adding anything additional.
is that correct?
the reason that i am asking is that I have noted that some alarm kit harnesses already have BSI multiplugs connected to just plug and play as it were and in my case it doesnt, I dont want to kill my BSI be splicing wires and getting it wrong so would all BSI unit be the same across the Peugeot range of the same year i.e 206, 406 etc?
I will be trying my local dismantlers to see if I can find a Peugeot 206, 406 BSI unit with multiplug already attached and plugged in just to have the loom and plug fittings as i think this would save me doing any splicing at all!
BSIs won't be the same, you'd have to find a 406 of the right year, engine etc. and also fit the engine ecu and probably a few other bits. Can't you just look for the BSI?

Errrr, all D9s have multiplex wiring, I suppose there's the usual grey area, like when they made D8.5s (a mixture of the two) but straight D8s aint multiplex, no sir no.
The build code when they started fitting com2000 (which means full mux) is 9001 - Mon 2 Jul 2001
Whoops! Slightly less wrong than I could have been though, so that's not bad
My own dear old V-reg D9 saloon (RIP) was part-mux, and it was only built a few months after the facelift was introduced.

I'm not after the BSI unit, just the wiring harness for the alarm that unplugs from the BSI and attaches into the alarm loom which then plugs into the BSI.
it has to be from texalarm after market install. my brand new alarm does not have the "plug and play" straight into the BSI only a bunch of about 20 cables to splice into existing.
I dont know if i'm allowed to put website links in my message so as long as you dont you dont type "9671.zh" install into a goggle search engine and dont click the 3rd item down, the loom and BSI connectors explain themselves.
the loom with my 9671.zk does not contain the bsi friendly plug and play connectors, I think i made a mess of asking if BSI across the Peugeot range had the same type of connector to help broaden my "find/search" at the scrappies!!
