Seat swap in standard 406

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Seat swap in standard 406

Post by clh82 »

Hi all. New to the forum, came across it googling my query, and im posting hoping someone can help.

I am in possession of an S reg peugeot 406 1.8 lx (petrol) .. and just recently, a full set of electric leather seats from an executive model bought from a scrappy for no more

than 40 notes.... (visiting him for a front ring wing and headlamp due to a minor bump, and as luck had it the exec model (same colour even)had been brought in that day

due to a hefty smash up the left hand side to be scrapped)

I was offered the seats also and at 40 quid, couldn't find a reason to refuse.

My problem is i dont have the faintest idea whether or not i can fit them (with relative ease) to my standard model.

Is the wiring even there for them to be fitted? and if so where is it? I haven't a clue.

Being a complete car noob to this sort of thing, i would really appreciate an ABC run down of what i can and cant do in this situation!

Thanks in advance to any response...

Hi,

The seats are electric for sure. If they are heated as well, i'm not sure

I was trying to avoid taking the seats out because i'm not sure what exactly i would be looking for (or even if there was anything there to begin with)

I mean the seats weren't meant for the standard model, so why would there be wiring there for them??

So your suggesting i unbolt the seats (passenger side say) and see if there is something to plug into?

If there is is it that simple? Just to remove and replace the seats?

seats are simple to remove just 4 torx bolts'
the wiring might be there as they sometimes use one loom for all models.
if you need some parts of the wireing let me know as iam breaking a exective.

How much wiring is needed?

Because without taking the seats out ( as i dont have the tools as yet ) having looked there is already wires clipped to the seats i have already.

Plz find attached a passenger side picture of the wires..

Is this all the wiring that will be needed? So as you say, i just need to undo the bolts and exchange the seats?

Thx in advance.

Edit.Just to add, i have no idead why these are clipped to the seats, having searched the car for some sort of switch for them and not finding one

Looks like seatbelt pretensioner. On my D8 all the wires were tucked under the carpet (about where that one is). Even if they're not there we can talk you through getting your own ones there.

Sweet, thx for the response.

Well my plan is to whip the passenger side seat out in the morning (weather permitting, as its hammering it down here, and having nipped down to get a torc screwdriver that

fits)

And will post what i find, if anything.

If you have no wiring, then source a GTX drivers seat switch
There have been a few ways to get electric seats up and running, but the best one yet is to remove the existing seat switch and to replace with the GTX version
That way both seats will only require an earth, and a fused live feed

Nice to see my original suggestion getting some mileage. Also worth noting that the same switch can be found on some later GLX models.

Ok, hi all.

I've had the passenger side seat out and lifted the carpet..

please find attached a picture of the only wiring under the seat, the wiring from the previous pic is attached to this as well.

Not sure where to go from here.
