Does anyone know the correct procedure to re-sync the remote key on a D9 99 'V' 2.0HDi 110 Executive Estate?

If its not the original key it needs to be recoded.
If it is put the key in the ignition, and turn the ignition on while holding the lock button on the key for about 10 seconds
