Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

help needed with drivers window

Post by karllap »

Hi,
My Dad has a 2000 (I Think) 406 hdi. He has a problem with the drivers window in that it wont work at all. I have changed the switch and that is ok and I have checked that I have 12v going to the motor which I have but I'm not sure if all is correct. Its the plug with 6 connectors, 4 wires, red, earth, orange and yellow.
I have a perm liveto the orange,
12v to the red when the switch is pressed down (manual or auto) and 12v to the red when it is pulled up (automatic only)
12v to yellow when pressed down (automatic only) and 12v when pulled up manual or automatic

Is this correct which means I have a motor problem or are the electrics all cocked up?

Thanks

if you but a direct 12v feed to the moter and it dosnt work then you have a moter proplem.i did this as i sometimes have a proplem in that my window wont work so to rule out the moter this is what i did.

Thanks for the reply.

All sorted, it was the motor. Somebody had made a hatchet job of it and buggered the motor and assembly. Replaced and all working ok
