Wiring connections in footwell

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Wiring connections in footwell

Post by pjpaul »

Hi there, 1st timer here :)
I recently purchased 406 HDi 2.2 executive estate car and noticed after a typical british downpour there was water left in the footwell. I found the cause to be a blockage in the sunroof drain hose.
The problem I have now is that having taken up the carpet in drivers footwell there is a 10 way blue connector with 7 wires on each side, unfortunately 2 of these wires had broken off.
I joined the other wires together but not sure where the other 2 wires were connected to. One side of the connector has beige wire labeled 8604 and grey wire, other side has beige wire labeled 8601 and white wire. Anyone know what the 7 wires on this connector are used for. I would be most grateful for any help with this problem.
I have issues with some electrics not working at the moment so hopefully repairing this will solve some of them.
Thanks in advance Paul.

Hi there :cheesy:

The schematics I have access to (http://www.petrila.net/pug/Service/index.htm ) don't go into enough detail (anyone got Sedra working?) but 86 seems to be to do with the alarm.

The connector is IC11B 10V BE, 8601 "should" go to 8601 and 8604 "should" go to Z8604 (and when I say "should" I mean probably doesn't  )

Ok, not much use but hopefully a start. What electrical problems do you have? I can't tell you what's in the connector but I do know there's all sorts of stuff including multiplex down there, which can give some rather entertaining problems

Hi Paul & welcome to the site. 8)

(& may I compliment you your excellent choice of vehicle)?

If steve's info doesn't sort it out & it's fairly easy getting the carpet up? I'll have a squint at mine this evening, weather permitting.

Let me know if you've sorted it first.

Thanks for the info guys, all the wiring now connected.

As this connection is indeed for the alarm I can't confirm all is ok at the moment due to the remote central locking not working and also the central locking does'nt work if I manually lock the doors sigh

I have tried resetting the BSI and reprograming both keys (new batteries fitted).

I'll check out the forum for more help on this.

Once again big thankyou you all been great help, and excellent forum :D

You may need a Peugeot Planet 2000, (dealer diagnostic system), to re-synch the keys - I had to with mine.

Whereabouts are you, Paul?

Oh - that's about 200 miles each way. :frown:

As Disco says, you should consider coming to our meet next month: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=15101

That would be a few less miles, a decent day out and there will be at least one of us with the necessary kit on board. 8)

For the keys you need your 4 digit alphanumeric security code to access the BSI [i charge forum members £1 via paypal gift for this, dealers is £25-45].

The key needs to be coded to the car before it can be sync'd.

I'm Manchester way this weekend which isn't too far from Blackpool. I only have the 16pin and 2 pin connector tho, as some f*cker stole my other one along with my ECU flasher at a car show

Or Join http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/ and search for a post called 'Peugeot VIN to PIN'. Post your VIN someone will reply with your 4-character PIN within a day or two.

There are a few people on that forum who pay for subscriptions from me

Peugeot, Citroen, Kia and Hyundai are instant. Chrysler and Dodge take a couple of hours

Thanks for all the info regarding having to resync the ignition keys, and for offering to sort them out . Unfortunately I could'nt get over to Mancester this weekend.
I'll try to make the Pug meet, has a date and venue been decided?
